Drug Interaction Concerns - If you are taking any of the following drugs please let
your physician know: (1) Barbiturates, corticosteroids, diazoxide,
digoxin, MAOIs, narcotics, or other medicines for high blood pressure (such
as atenolol) because they may increase the risk of medication's side
effects. (2) Dofetilide, ketanserin, or lithium because the risk of
irregular heartbeat and seizures may be increased. (3)
Taking cholestyramine, colestipol, iron, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs (NSAIDs), or vitamins with iron because they may decrease
effectiveness of this drug.
(4) The effectiveness of diabetic insulin or diabetes medicines (such
as glyburide) may be decreased with the use of this medicine..
Important Notes About This Medication:
(1) Methyldopa HCTZ may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred
vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or
certain medicines. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks
until you know how you react to it. (2) Use of this drug
can cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps,
or tanning booths until you know how you react to the rx prescription.
