Side Effects of Bupropion Hydrochloride -
A small percent of people may experience the following side effects
while on this prescription drug: agitation, anxiety, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, increased sweating, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, restlessness, taste changes, trouble sleeping, vomiting, and weight changes.
Bupropion Hci Drug Interaction Concerns:
There are certain drugs that cause negative side effects when taking
Generic Wellbutrin antidepressents. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
(1) Amantadine,
antipsychotics (i.e.
haloperidol, risperidone), corticosteroids (i.e.,
prednisone), insulin, levodopa, MAOIs (phenelzine), nicotine patches, oral hypoglycemics (i.e.
glipizide), other antidepressants (eg,
fluoxetine,
amitriptyline), sympathomimetics (eg, pseudoephedrine), theophylline, or tiagabine because they may increase the risk of
antidepressant's side effects.
(2) Carbamazepine, phenobarbital, or phenytoin because they may decrease
drug's effectiveness Antiarrhythmics (i.e. propafenone, flecainide), beta-blockers, phenothiazines, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI)
antidepressants, or tricyclic antidepressants because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Bupropon.
Important Medicine Notes: (1) This drug may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. The effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use
this antidepression drug with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
(2) This medication may increase your risk of seizures. Your risk may be greater if you also have certain medical conditions, use certain medicines, or if you drink large amounts of alcohol.
Do not take decongestants (i.e pseudoephedrine), stimulants, or diet pills while you are taking
generic Wellbutrin without first checking with your doctor. They may increase your risk of seizures.
(3) Children/teenagers who take this medicine may be at increased risk for suicidal thoughts or actions. Adults may also be affected. The risk may be greater in patients who have had suicidal thoughts or actions in the past. The risk may also be greater in patients who have had bipolar (manic-depressive) illness, or if their family members have had it. Contact the doctor at once if new, worsened, or sudden symptoms such as depressed mood; anxious, restless, or irritable behavior; panic attacks; or any unusual change in mood or behavior occur.
(4) Do not breast feed while taking this antidepressant without consulting with your doctor.
