Common Side Effects of This Prescription - Include: cough, dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, and tiredness.

Drug Interaction Concerns: There are certain drugs that cause negative side effects when taken with this med. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following: (1) Antiarrhythmics (such as Amiodarone, Flecainide & Quinidine), antipsychotics (such as Chlorpromazine and Haloperidol), bupivacaine, calcium channel blockers (including: Mibefradil, Nifedipine & Verapamil), cimetidine, ketanserin, mefloquine, or thioamines because potentially life-threatening heart-related side effects may occur (Which can include: very slow heart rate, abnormal heartbeat, lightheadedness, difficulty breathing, loss of function in the heart and lungs, and swelling of ankles.) (2) Barbiturates, clonidine, phenytoin, rifampin, or thyroid hormones because they may decrease Propranolol's effectiveness. (3) Certain stimulants (Adrenalin and Pseudoephedrine), hydralazine, insulin, lidocaine, quinazolines, rizatriptan, or theophylline because their actions and the risk of their side effects may be increased by this medication.

Important Notes About This Medication: (1) Generic Inderide may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol, exercise or certain medicines. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. (2) Patients who take medicine for high blood pressure often feel tired or run down for a few weeks after starting treatment. Be sure to take your medicine even if you may not feel "normal." Tell your doctor if you develop any new symptoms. (3) This drug may mask the signs of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). If you have an overactive thyroid and stop taking the drug too suddenly, symptoms of hyperthyroidism (a fast heartbeat) may occur. (4) For diabetics, this prescription medication may hide signs of low blood sugar. Be sure to watch for other signs of low blood sugar. Low blood sugar may make you anxious, sweaty, weak, dizzy, drowsy, or faint. It may also make your vision change; give you a headache, chills, or tremors; or make you more hungry. Check blood sugar levels closely. (5) Do not breast feed while taking this medicine without consulting with your doctor.
