Common Side Effects of this Medicine? - They include:
blurred vision, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, inability to keep an
erection, lightheadedness especially when sitting up or standing, loss
of appetite, nausea, rash or itching, redness of the skin, and
uncontrolled muscle movement.
Drug Interaction - Please note the
following: (1) Cholestyramine, colestipol, or NSAID's because they
decrease the effectiveness this thiazide diuretic. (2) Barbiturates (such
as phenobarbital), corticosteroids, narcotic pain medicines, and/or
medicines for high blood pressure because side effects of Hydrochlorothizide
may be increased. (3) Diazoxide or nondepolarizing muscle relaxants,
because side effects may be increased by used of this med. (4) The
use of Lithium can increase the risk of toxicity if used in conjunction with
this drugg. (5) Digoxin, dofetilide, or ketanserin because risk of
irregular heartbeat may be increased by taking this water pill. (6)
Diabetes medicines (such as glipizide and
metformin), insulin, or pressor
amines because the effectiveness may be decreased by this medication.
Important Notes About This Medication:
(1) Hydrochlorothiazide may cause dizziness. Do not drive, operate
machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know
how you react to this prescription. Using generic Hydrodiuric alone,
with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to
drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. (2)
Hydrochlorothiazide may cause high blood sugar (which is indicated by
thirst, increased urination, confusion, drowsiness, flushing, rapid
breathing, or fruity breath odor). If these symptoms occur, tell your
physician.(3) Generic Esidrix may cause increased sensitivity to
the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until
you know how you react to Hydrochlorothiazide . Use a sunscreen or
protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period. (3)
Discuss with your doctor the use of this drug if you are pregnant. Do not
breast-feed while taking medicine.
