Discount Prednisone (pred'ni-sone) is used for the treatment of severe allergies, arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, and skin conditions. It also can be used as a single drug agent or conjunctively with antineoplastics in cancer treatment.

Prednisone is a corticosteroid. It works by decreasing or preventing tissues from responding to inflammation. It also modifies the body's response to certain immune stimulation. It comes in tablet form and dosage levels of 1 2.5 5 10 20 50 milligrams (mg). The prescription is used by both humans and pets (cats/dogs). This medication is the generic equivalent for Deltasone, Meticorten, Orasone, Panasol, Prednicen M and Sterapred.

Generic Deltasone - Common Side Effects - Include: difficulty sleeping, headaches, increased appetite, increased sweating, indigestion, mood changes, muscle weakness and nervousness.

Drug Interaction: There are certain drugs that cause negative side effects when taken with this medicine. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following: (1) Barbiturates, Carbamazepine, Hydantoins, or rifampin because the effectiveness of of this medication may be decreased ; (2) Clarithromycin Azole Antifungals, steroidal contraceptives , or troleandomycin because side effects, such as weakness, confusion, muscle aches, joint pain, or low blood sugar, may occur; (3) Methotrexate or Ritodrine because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased ;  (4) Hydantoins, Mifepristone, or live vaccines because the effectiveness of these medicines may be decreased; (5) Anticoagulants (such as Warfarin) or aspirin because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased or decreased. 
 

Important Notes: (1) Generic Meticorten makes you more susceptible to illnesses, especially if you take it for an extended period of time. Prevent infection by avoiding contact with people who have colds or other infections. If you are exposed to chickenpox, measles, or TB while taking Prednisone or within 12 months after discontinuing the medication, call your doctor. Report any injuries or signs of an infection (fever, sore throat, pain during urination, or muscle aches) that occur during treatment and within 12 months after stopping Generic Panasol; (2) This medicine may cause an elevation in blood pressure, salt and water retention, and increased potassium loss. You may need to restrict the use of salt and take a calcium supplement; (3) Prednisone can cause calcium loss and promote the development of osteoporosis. Take adequate calcium and vitamin D supplement; (4) Diabitic users of Generic Sterapred may find their blood sugar levels affect. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine; and  (5) Do not breast feed while taking this drug without consulting with your doctor.
